The First Federal Congress Project, a chartered University Research Center and affiliated with the Department of History at the George Washington University, has a dual mission: collecting, researching, editing and publishing the universally acclaimed and well reviewed Documentary History of the First Federal Congress, l789-l791, and serving as a research center on the most important and productive Congress in U.S. history. The Johns Hopkins University Press has published fourteen volumes of the records of this Congress and the editing of five volumes of the correspondence to and from the members. Orderly Books of the Continental Army, 1775-1784

Its goal is to present a data base for researchers of the micro-history of the Continental Army which can be found in no other single source and which provides cross-referencing options to assist in research focus on particular units, on particular campaign theaters and time periods, and on institutions holding within their collections specific manuscript books.

The Papers of General Nathanel Greene
The documents contained in this mini-edition, maintained by the Model Editions Partnership, comprise the critical period of Greene's campaign in the South--19 January 1781 through 15 February 1781. Starting with the battle of Cowpens, a pivotal battle in the war in the South, they highlight what has become known as the "Race to the Dan" as the British general, Lord Cornwallis, used all his resources to attempt to overtake and destroy Greene's army as the Americans retreated across the Dan River toward safety and succor in Virginia.

The Papers of George Washington
The Papers of George Washington is a grant-funded project. It was established in 1969 at the University of Virginia, under the joint auspices of the University and the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association of the Union, to publish a complete edition of Washington's correspondence. DLAR has all the current editions of this project in the our holdings. Not every letter is searchable online, but some items are at the above website.

Slavery and the Ratification of the Constitution
Slavery was a crucial issue for the Founders. By collecting and publishing here in one volume substantial documentation on the issue of slavery during the debate over the ratification of the Constitution, it is hoped that readers will gain a deeper appreciation of the founding generation--slaveholders, opponents of slavery, and slaves--as it grappled with its seemingly insoluble moral, social, and economic dilemma. Many of the documents are taken from the files of or have been published in The Documentary History of the Ratification of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, 1787-1791, published by the State Historical Society of Wisconsin and maintained by the Model Editions Partnership.
